Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta
Top 20 U.S. Airports by Gates

April 2022

Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International is widely known as the world's busiest airport, and as one might expect, it also tops the list of airports ranked by number of gates. However the rankings by gates don't necessarily correspond to airport passenger counts. For example, Washington-Dulles, which was built to handle much larger passenger totals than it has ever achieved, ranks 7 in terms of gates but 25th in terms of passengers.
